Too many songs? or Not Enough?

Average: 4.8 (17 votes)

Ok so everyone has heard all of the bullshit about how there are too many songs on the new album, but honestly i think its stupid, I like every single song off of that album in some way, while "is a real boy" did kick ass, and was possibly one of the greatest albums of all time, i believe in defense was a great follow up album, and paste punk and all of those other critics can suck it!!! what do you think?

Really, whatever or however many songs Max thinks he can tell a story. Each album is a story, that is how I see it...and it's like a movie, you don't want a movie to go on and on. In a way, you want there to be an ending...you can appreciate the music so much more. The last, I'd say, 45 seconds of "Plea" (and really the whole song) phenomenally ends In Defense of the Genre -- perfect example.

There is an infinite amount of meaning in lyrics, melodies and the music as a whole. Endings suck sometimes when you love what you hear, but they're great because you can't wait for the next story which gives you the greatest f***ing craving ever.

I love that they put a lot of songs on their albums. They should put more...I am definately addicted to the way Max sings...

It's niether too much, nor too little in my opinion. You can never have too many songs in an album. For me, this is great because with Say Anything and bands like Motion City Soundtrack it takes a few listens of each song for me to like it, then it grows on me and it becomes my favourite. Half of the songs on Defense have been my favourite at some point, and I haven't listened to the rest yet, but I'm sure they'll have the same effect. It's great.

They've made 2 discs of songs they've poured their heart into and it's amazing.

Say Anything pwns you all.

the more songs the better more songs for the same amount of money as other cd's which sometimes only have 10 songs....or maybe not but damn close w/e dude say anything rocks

oooh, i forgot a clever quote!

"the" -Say Anything

there.

enough for now. i'm still trying to process this shit. i don't have the kind of time i need to listen to say anything. it's ruining my life. thanks max.

but with seriousness, i can't wait for more.

here's a question, if say anything were a drug, what would it be? i should probably start a new topic for that... but i won't.

whoo!!! i'm glad everyone agrees with me!! this could have gone either way

there are not enough songs, i want a 50 track album from say anything.

i used to have a heart worth a billion bucks now it's shitty, shoddy cheap.

you guys need to find out what you're talking about before you say things, menora/majora had more than 4 songs. i think the new album is perfect with all the tracks.

forever yours i am, like the ocean to the sand.

i dont like this cc0852 menora/mejora was a good cd. BUT IT WAS THE ONLY CD WITH 4 SONGS! SO HOW WAS THAT SAY ANYTHING?

SAY ANYTHING IS ALOT OF SONGS! AND THATS WHAT HIS ALBUM IS! NOT TOO MANY! NOT TOO LITTLE!! PERFECT SAY ANYTHING!

They are amazing and I can't get enough.

There can never be too many Say Anything songs!! Those critics are on something...

every song brings something to the album. it wouldnt be the same if even just one was missing. every song shows a different aspect of their talent. i love it.

Every song is amazing, there are rarely albums where there are one or two songs that you don't obsessively love (out of 27 that is). Max wrote these songs as a sequel to his life, post ...Is A Real Boy. Every song on this album has a purpose of being there, if songs were taken out then Max's message would be incomplete. I think In Defense of the Genre is a very good follow up to ...Is A Real Boy...it has a different feel to it, for obvious reasons. Them being; Max has more diverse vocals, he realized and got help for his disorder, he was willing to share his deepest feelings with his fans, other reasons that I don't know because I'm not in Say Anything, and last but not least...if Say Anything created an album JUST like ...Is A Real Boy everyone would be saying "all the songs are the same just with different titles." What is one of the many reasons why The Beatles were such a successful band? Because every album they came out with was different than the one before. They realized that for a band to stay popular, it must continue to change things up and try new things while staying true to what they stand for. This is what Say Anything did, and by reading various posts by fans, they were able to accomplish just that.

have you heard menora/mejora? theres only 4 songs on that. thats say anyhting.

...How can there ever be to many songs on a Say Anything album? First off all of them are great, second, it allows some of the songs to have a similar sound with out spoiling the diversity of the album.

I personaly don't think Say Anything would be Say Anything if they didn't have alot of songs on there album
