Bemis is my Homeboy

I was introduced to Say Anything (and a whole slew of other artists) my freshman year at Pitt by my friend Jake. I listened to ...Is and ...Was and got into the band throughout the year as my roommate picked up the habit too. The Culmination? Say Anything concert in Cleveland (4hr drive there 4 hr back) the day after spring semester was officially over! I gotta admit with my busy summer (class and work) my listening was slacking, but I finally got a hold of Baseball and Menorah Mejorah and some Junior Varsity. Quite impressive. Then I hear about In Defense of the Genre.. I kept listening to the songs as they were released on Myspace, and I gotta say I was a little worried. On their own they were very diffirent, but now that I have the double album in my hands, I gotta say they have proved themselves again. I still scratch my head at the way some people label this band as "emo". This is just pure expression, and the sarcasm and meaning underlying the music just make these guys great. I though Is... ... Was, were both hilarious. They can't be defined by a genre. Can't wait to see the second coming in Pittsburgh!
