I'm was fan because I think that Say Anything's music is absolutely amazing, and because Max Bemis is a lyrical genius. He's got a vocabulary that most college English professors would kill for and the ability to put the perfect emphasis on every single syllable of every sing lyric of every single song.
I'm still a fan of the band Say Anything, minus Max Bemis. I was at Warped Tour in Pittsburgh earlier today, or rather, yesterday, at this point. There I realized that Max Bemis has taken on a responsibility he can't handle. With stardom such as his, he's expected to treat his fans with respect. I mean... who buys the albums and goes to the concerts? The fact that he refuses to come out and sign stuff with the rest of his band, who know how to be a band, has made me lose faith in him. He does cool stuff, like put funny lyrics in his songs and makes a cover of I Got Your Money by ODB. But he's not God, and he can't just treat his fans like crap, and interrupt his fellow band members when they're actually trying to give the fans some attention, or that fan base is going to diminish, and as of today, Say Anything's fan base may not have shrunk, but Max Bemis' definitely did.
