Colorblind

hi everyone.

I was casually visiting absolutepunk.net and i went to a thread about say anything, namely about the song titles for our next record. i do this once and a while but less than you'd think; i am just weary of "nay nay".

for your information, "nay nay" is a say anything inner-band term we use for senseless b.s with very little foundation that assumes itself to be the end all be all truth (i.e when you're at a party and someone says jay z is there and everyone starts to say that he's 100% there or coming and by the end it just turns out it was a rumor.) nay nay can also apply to the crap puked up by people who think that they need to force their opinion on others. there's a lot of nay nay in the world so, like i said, i try to avoid say anything threads so i don't get butt-hurt; i am a sensitive dude (which many posters forget some creative people are and proceed to bash them or make rude comments about the loves of their lives JUST SAYIN'). i am always worried that if i start reading i won't be able to stop and i'll end up a self loathing bulimic who just sits in front of the computer whipping myself with a belt and weeping, shamelessly addicted to the endless train of nay nay.

anyway, i went regardless. i was THRILLED to find that you guys are still super nice about our band. with a lot of bands that stick around and do reasonably well, you tend to get a lot more "overrated" or "i liked them when he was fatter" type posts but generally you guys are still totally rad.....

i love you all. those who said they were stoked, even those who said they liked our first record more, or only like the second disc of our second record; hey, you're allowed! we partially made this new record to win you fickle sons of guns back. plus If you're one of the many people I saw who have consistently liked ALL our output, i still think this will be your favorite say anything record.

i just have to again flat out thank all the fans of our band for the amazing experience you keep creating for us. i will never underplay how much i owe you guys and i promise we'll have new music up for you to hear as soon as we're allowed. I can 100 percent guarantee the new record exists... so don't worry!

Until then, since you guys are being so patient, I thought I'd finally shut the heck up and play a real old say anything song for you guys. i haven't played this or any old say anything song since i was in high school and you guys are always bugging me to do it, so here you go. I hope you like it, and again....THANK YOU.

More updates to come.

Make sure to put your headphones in (the audio is really quiet)...

boils treatment

this is heartbreaking, and i mean that in the best way possible. there is something so raw and candid about those old songs that just completely captivates me.

"I move too slow, and I think too fast"

you have so much heart. don't ever change

excuse me if im mistaken, but is max playing lefty?...im pretty sure he plays righty cuz ive seen him in other videos playing righty...if so hes better than me lefty than i am righty...yayyyy hes the man

That's been my favorite song of yours since the moment I heard it, and I've always wondered what it'd be like if you played it again. Thanks a ton. Baseball is my favorite record at the moment, but if I can trust you on your word then I'm super excited for this new record that's coming out. You guys have always been the inspiration for nearly all of my music, and I'm really glad you did this. Thanks for giving into your fans wishes ;]

seriously thank you max (and of course the rest of the guys) for the awesomeness that is your music...we are just lucky to be able to fill our heads with it...i can only speak for myself when i say your gratitude, although gladly accepted and appreciated, is not needed for the simple fact that you continue to allow me to listen to your music...thank you for always writing a song that has been on any mix i've made since i was in high school...unlike you word usage is not one of my strong points so i can't articulate my gratitude enough so i'll just say thank you...

You give me hope. Your music... I crave it monstrously. I could be about to die, and if I heard any one of your songs, a smile would crack before my final moment. I may be young still, but everything I do, everything I think about doing, I know your influence has lead me there. Don't stop making music, I still want the sun to shine. Even if I'm the only one still listening, YOU make me happy, I can't think of anything or anyone else that has genuinely done this for me besides my family and closest of friends. <3

music is the soundtrack of life. i love this song. max is an amazing artist. i wish i had these songs as a teenager, i am almost 30 and if i need to feel better when i am down in the dumps or i just wanna rock my socks, i turn to any song these guys have magically created, it has to be magic....

the way so many people can be emotionally altered just because you covered one of your old songs from high school is beyond me.
i honestly don't understand it.

you are the only one in the world who could have pulled it off too.

i admire you.

thank you so much max! ever since you first posted that you were going to be playing something from baseball i told everyone i knew, even if they didn't know about you guys. i just saw the new post and had to stop making biscotti with my mom to listen.
honestly i can't thank you enough. this means so much to me. this new acoustic version is so rad. your music means so so so much to me. keep making it, i'll always back you!
can't wait for the new record, i know you guys killed it.
thanks again max.

This made me want to cry. All of your music was what got me through high school. There always was a song that perfectly fit how I was feeling or what the problem was, and there still is. This has always been one of my favorites. I am one of those fickle son of a guns you mentioned. Don't get me wrong, I love both the newer albums, but I'm still a sucker for the oldies. And there is very little I would not do for an original copy of Baseball. I have scoured just about every music store, flea market, and festival and still have yet to find one. I'll keep looking though. Keep on doing what you're doing. <3

This has probably been the most... awesome event of my summer.
This acoustic version is amazing. Say Anything never ever ever ever ever ever fails.

and i love his attitude towards fans but most of all the music
you've been my favourite for a couple of years now, i saw you live 2 years ago now, and you need to come back to england!!
colourblind is one of my favourite say anything songs!! second to a walk through hell, i'm gutted that i wont get to hear either live, seeing as you only play a walk through hell at acoustic sets in america
cannot wait for the new album

this is the stuff that is really appreciated... this really speaks to the fans who have been there all along and means a lot to them (me included). the only band i can honestly say i have heard every song of and loved everyone of them. new cd will be great. its really cool to see the way you have changed your music and styles through the years. just shows how creative and talented you are. keep doing what you are doing because we all appreciate it. thanks for giving me my life motto too... when im dead ill rest.

Thank you thank you! This is seriously making my life right now! I love you Max, your band, your hottie wife and her amazing band. I can't wait to hear the new record! So stoked.

This was purely great. I've read all the comments, and I don't think there's any idea to rephrase the good things that's already been written. Just know how much I appreciate everything you and your band do. It was really cool to see you perform an old song (this is like the first song I heard of SA, though I heard it as late as in 2008).

Max, you have made my month. As far as I'm concerned, you are one of the most talented musicians I have ever heard. I will never stop listening to your music. I'm so glad that you replayed this song, even though it must not have been easy for you. Thank you so very much. You have no idea how much this means. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

That. Was. Magical.

I never would have imagined the acoustic song sounding that way after hearing the album version so many times. It was absolutely fantastic.

Way to be awesome, Beems

Hey, I'm the crazy one here

Wow..all i can say is just...wow.

Thank you Max. You have taken what could have been one of my favourite songs and revamped it into something completely different, but just as powerful, if not more so. You have helped me through some of the hardest parts of my life through your music. I haven't been through hell, but that's what makes you so amazing in my eyes. You've been through something that I can't even imagine having to deal with.

For the fact that you've taken that emotional step forward and played something that reminded you of that engrossing past is beyond me. I cannot applaud you enough for that. I know you already know this, but i feel that i should write this anyways, just for the offchance you might be reading this. I can tell it must have been difficult to do that, but you did it anyway, which shows just how strong of a person you truly are.

I cannot thank you enough. I hope to see you continue dealing with your past, one step at a time. And i hope to see you play more songs from Baseball. But only if you believe you can.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU!

~Geet

i can only imagine how annoying "nay nay" could be for you. im not even in your band and i sometimes wanna punch the computer screen.
anyways, thanks for playing this.

I've also been habitually checking the band's respective twitter's for updates. It's paid off.
This is amazing. I love 99% of the things you do.
Keep up the good work Max, come back to Waterford will ya?

singing old songs that remind you of bad times can be very painful, so I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say thanks for singing this beautiful acoustic version of "Colorblind" for us. I think this was one of the first songs I ever heard from you guys, this version makes me want to cry all over the place haha. But seriously, this made my fucking day, thank you, you are unmatchable!!!

*I still know how to fuck your eyes crossed...*

I literally check this site everyday just to hear any new twitter updates or new blogs about the new record or anything from the Say Anything camp... The days couldnt move any slower... im more jittery than a 9 year old all hopped up on mountain dew... I can honestly say I love everything from Junior Varsity to In Defense... Baseball, Menorah/Majora, EVERYTHING.. Just the way Say Anything and especially Max presents themselves... I love it...And Colorblind was the first song i heard from the old stuff that you refuse to play anymore and i was mindblown... Whatever you guys choose to do ill be behind you 100%... your geniuses and never fail to amaze me.

that the new record exists?
hope that isn't some Jay-Z nay nay, haha.
pumped for this, and to hear new stuff.
thank you so much, max.

Always have loved this song. Love this version more, still makes me cry. Come back to the UK soon, seeing you tour with Hellogoodbye a couple years ago just wasn't enough.
Keep doing what you're doing, never lose hope.

I usually hear bands go on and on about how they love their fans and I think, "stfu, your full of crap." But sometimes i believe them, especially when its a dude who is big enough to have a legion of adoring fans (myself included) and still take the time to listen to their trollish banter, and actually act on them.(!?!) i never heard baseball, and i doubt i ever will, but im pretty sure its gonna sound like the rest of your stuff. Cuz all of your (and your band's) music is like big venting of emotion in everyway and that's why i love say anything so much.

Sorry if i misinterpreted your music^^
